Sir Adolph Tuck's 70th Birthday

The Times (11 february 1924, p. 14)

Sir Adolph Tuck was entertained at dinner on Saturday night at the Great Central Hotel by the staff of Messrs. Raphael Tuck, Limited, in celebration of his 70th birthday. At a reception held after dinner in the winter garden of the hotel, at which over 1,000 employees were present, Sir Adolph was presented with his portrait in oils. In acknowledging the gift he announced that he was handing £5,000 over to trustees as the foundation of a pension fund for employees, in memory of his father and mother. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle presented Sir Adolph with a tortoiseshell cigar holder set with platinum and diamonds, with the inscription: "A small souvenir of 21 years of private friendship and business comradeship." — A.
