This two days' match, commenced at Lord's Ground, St. John's Wood, on Monday, concluded on Tuesday, and resulted in an easy win for the Scottish team, who were very smart in the field, by an innings and 18 runs. When play ceased on Monday evening, the Grange Club had completed an innings for 402, and the Gentlemen of the M.C.C. had lost half their wickets for 102, B. N. Bosworth-Smith then being not out with 25 attached to his name. On resuming play yesterday, the total was taken to 115 for six wickets, when Smith was bowled for a patiently played innings of 35, the innings closing at a quarter-past twelve for 151. Being in a minority of 251, M.C.C. had to follow on, and started very badly, the first wicket falling for 2, the second at 16, and the third for 19, the fourth fell at 40, and half the wickets were down for but 55. R. N. Bosworth Smith and F. G. H. Clayton, however, made a good stand. The latter was bowled after contributing 37 in good style, Dr. F. W. P. Holton stayed with Smith until he had scored 23, eight wickets being down for 143. On E. C. Lee partnering Bosworth-Smith a must determined stand was made, and between them put on 89 before Smith was bowled for an admirable and exceedingly patient innings of 82, having been at the wickets two hours and twenty minutes. Lee carried out his bat for a dashingly played 38, and the innings closed a few minutes before five, the Grange Club winning by an innings and 18 runs. Score:—
