Creating Ballads of the War is a book written by H. D. Rawnsley published in february 1901 by J. M. Dent & Co. and including a prefatory note written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Prefatory note
It is a good work to preserve some of the heroic memories of South Africa, and so to renew the noble traditions of our race. We must not always trade upon the glories of the past. These little songs and epics will, I am sure, have this effect. I am glad, therefore, that Canon Rawnsley is publishing them, and I wish the book every possible success.
