At Edinburgh University on Friday, Sir William Turner conferred the degree of LL.D. on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sir Charles Eliot, Sir Frank Younghusband, Lord Kincairney, and Mr. W. W. Cheyne, of King's College, London.
Similar degrees were conferred at Aberdeen on the novelists, Thomas Hardy and Maarten Maartens, Professor Gilli, of the Vatican Museums, Edwin Robinson, of the Boston Museum, Lord Reay, Francis Haverfield, Oxford lecturer, and Professor Bury, of Cambridge.
