From The Arthur Conan Doyle Encyclopedia
Gentlemen of M.C.C. v. The Navy is a cricket result published in The Sporting Life on 27 june 1901.
Arthur Conan Doyle's team (M.C.C.) won by 136 runs.

Runs came rapidly at Lord's yesterday afternoon, when twelve Gentlemen representing M.C.C. were opposed to a like number of "Our Navy." The Club realised 340 for eight wickets, when the innings was declared, A. J. Webbe and R. H. Johnston each scoring more than the century. While Hutchings and Hotham divided half a dozen of the M.C.C. wickets, Roebuck proved deadly on the other side, no less than five wickets falling at a cost of 21 runs, Macpherson taking three for 37.
