Khartoum Cathedral

The "Express" has received the following letter from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle:—

"To the Editor of the "Express."

"Sir, — Apart from any question of religious views it would be a disaster if Khartoum Cathedral, as the symbol of the spiritual aspirations of the ruling race, were left in an incomplete condition.

"Such visible signs impress the Oriental mind, and they could not fail to ascribe it to national weakness of purpose if the scheme was not carried through in a worthy manner. The Cathedral stands in this instance for Christianity and for civilisation.

"ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE.
Windlesham, Crowborough, Sussex."

The Bishop of London will consecrate the Khartoum Cathedral on january 4, 1912.
