South Wilts C.C. v. Mr. C. W. Hulse's XI

The Salisbury Times (11 august 1888, p. 8)

This match came off on Saturday, ending in a victory for Mr. Hulse's team. Going in first on a hard wicket the South Wilts team was disposed of for the small total of 48, this result being due to the slow bowling of Major Bethune, who secured five wickets for 11 runs. The visitors on going in scored 202 of which Jeffkins made 50 and Major Bethune 45. In the second innings of the home team, however, a little better stand was made, two wickets only falling for 53 runs, Morres playing a good not out innings of 30. The following were the scores:—
