William Small

William Small (1843-1929), aka W. Small, was a British landscape painter, water colorist, illustrator and painter. He was born and trained in Edinburgh, but then moved to London. He illustrated in many periodicals, including Good Words and The Cornhill Magazine, and also drew for a variety of books of poetry, songs, and children's stories. He also contributed a very few drawings to Cassell's History of England.

He signed: W.S.

Between 1884 and 1902, he did 7 illustrations for Arthur Conan Doyle's works.
